Portrait Session – Cashel Co Tipperary. May 16th 2012

Today, I enjoyed a Portrait session with my Lovely Daughter Emma, and her good friend, Rachel. I chose an outdoor location and late in the afternoon, using outside lighting Viz, a Softbox Stobe, with available light from the ambient light that was there at the time of the shoot. Underexposing the ambient light and then providing the Stobe lighting from the Softbox, I was able to achieve a pleasing effect as is seen in this image. I would like to thank Emma and Rachel for their help in making the shoot fun and productive. !

A Recent Portrait Emma and Rachel – Cashel, Co Tipperary Ireland

In this portrait I was trying to get a ” Twilight” effect, during daylight hours. The picture was taking in Daylight and using Studio Lighting., ( A softbox ), I was able to ” Dial Down~” the ambient light to get the effect of last light’ and also light the subjects with artificial ” Soft” light. I think you will agree, the effect works. Should you wish a quote for a personal portrait, please contact me by the Contact Form. I will be happy to discuss your very own ” Photo Shoot”… Andy

Spring is on the way. .

Well – It’s here..the evidence is evident… the days are stretching ahead into Spring , the Lambs have arrived and so has wonderful Spring. For me, the best time of the year. As a photographer, I am aware that we have a while to go until those long bright evenings and early Dawns but, the fact is there that we have it all to look forward to. You only have to listen. The birds are abundant , full of purpose soon to be parents again as they fulfil springs promise. Compared to last year and the year before, so far, we can say that winter has been kinder to us all . I am...

Latest Blog October 24th – AJ Photography

Well, this last month or so has been a very busy one. In my part , thankfully to the Rugby World Cup. To Explain – My work with the Nenagh Guardian normally keeps me occupied at weekends at a comfortable pace. However during this last period, the main Photographer, Bridget , was down under covering the Rugby World Cup ; which meant that I would step in her shoes to some degree and therefore my work at GAA matches around the County practically doubled. This was most welcome to me and I got to cover my first All Ireland Final at Croke Park, Dublin. I had the privilege to cover the Minor...

I wish Sydney and Ward all the best for the future.

Hore Abbey, Cashel, County Tipperary

Having a few hours spare today, I went back over my images within my hard drives, to find this image taken about 6 years ago of Hore Abbey, near Cashel, County Tipperary. It was taken with a entry level Digital SLR a Canon 300D. ( This was the first entry into Digital SLR cameras by Canon and I think a wonderful camera. ) The image was stored on my Hard Drive at 180 DPI, which is really only good’ for web publishing and the quality not high enough for submission to Stock Libraries.. This is a shame as looking at the image, I am quite pleased with it. I had to do a little work with Photoshop,...

A Photographers thoughts on the State of Photography – Old to New

Hello again .. There are times in one’s life when you find yourself sitting back and looking back in on ” The story so far” With this in mind, ,my thoughts often wander  , sometimes without logic, ( guess it is a sign of my age ! ), and occasionally stop on an interesting thought or two if I am lucky. At the age of 54 I guess you can say that I have lead a fairly active and interesting life.. From way back though, I have had an interest that has been with me from around the age of 9 . Now those of you with calculators or Calenders that can go back that far would have come...

May – Is THIS Summer..?

Hello all and Hello ” Summer”. This IS Summer isn’t it ? Well the days are longer, the birds are usually up before me and the Sun is higher in the Skies.. I think it is; although rarely seen it this month. The problem of course is that we have had our Summer ‘ already this year here in Ireland. April was our ” Summer” you see. Difficult I know but, for those of you living in warmer parts of the world, and even, just across the water in the UK the trend here is usually a few weeks glorious sunshine in the early part of the year in late Spring . Shorts...

Stock Libraries

Hello all and I guess I should start this blog,by saying sorry to all my many readers..( !! ), for, my absence of late. My first excuse is….Christmas. Followed by the worst Weather that I can remember, either here in Ireland or in the UK for many a year. I was cut off from water, lost all my oil for my heating and was unable to get down my hill onto the main road for over a week. So that would explain a complete lack of Imaginary on the site over the Christmas period. However I have been able to get out and about in recent weeks and therefore covering some sporting events in the South...

Dawn Photo Shoot- Barbados

One image that I really wanted to get ‘ was the beach Sunset picture with, the Bride and Groom ; ideally on an empty beach with perfect weather.   Well, the latter I could rely on getting.  But that was not the problem.  Of course for the wedding day in particular it was not going to possible to hijack the Bride and Groom and get them to a deserted beach for Sunset.  The guests would not appreciate it and also we were on the wrong side of the Island for a Sunset beach shot.. ( Being on the East side of the Island, we would only see the Sun at Dawn – before six Am. ), and the beaches would...
